Dr. Abby Lukens Bio

My name is Dr. Abby Lukens, and I am a physician practicing at the Garden Street office of Primary Medical Group. I was born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland, where I developed a passion for movement and the human body at a young age. This passion led me to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. After college, I worked at Children’s Hospital Boston, conducting research on childhood and adolescent obesity.

Seeking a break from New England winters, I moved to California, where I earned my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master of Public Health from Touro University California in Vallejo. I then relocated to Ventura to complete my Family Medicine residency at Community Memorial Health System.

I believe strongly in fostering open and honest conversations with my patients and placing great importance on building a strong patient-physician relationship. I was drawn to Family Medicine because of its unique ability to offer long-term care, and I truly value the opportunity to care for patients and their families over the course of their lives, spanning generations.

Outside the office, I spend most of my time playing with my son and exploring the beautiful beaches and local hiking trails. I’m also an avid runner—you’ll often find me jogging through the neighborhood streets during lunch or hitting the mountain trails on my days off.
