April was born and raised in the small town of Price, Utah. She attended nursing school at Utah State University Eastern and graduated as her nursing class valedictorian in 2011. She then graduated magna cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in 2012 from Marshall University. After graduating, April became a travel operating room nurse working in many different states throughout the country for 5 years. During this time, she also returned to school and graduated with her master’s degree and family nurse practitioner certification in 2017 from the University of Colorado. 

​April lives in Ventura with her husband, who is a local farmer. She enjoys staying active, whether she’s running, hiking, attending fitness classes, or taking her dogs to the beach.
